Time and sound share fundamental qualities: timing, rhythm, and precision. Our minute repeater mechanism converts hours and minutes into chimes. Thus, two black-polished steel hammers strike their gongs with perfect accuracy. Our patented resonance system keeps the balances stable. They stay in resonance even as the hammers strike. Two independent barrels ensure this harmony and deliver consistent power. And a third barrel powers the chiming function.
We may be scientists of movement, but we know that musical excellence deserves a worthy stage. That’s why we chose titanium for the case of the Minute Repeater Resonance. It is a good choice for transmitting the sound of the gongs and makes the timepiece light and comfortable to wear. On the dial side, the hour and minute hammers take centre stage. Their performance is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal time display. The gongs frame this scene. Two balances in the timepiece’s southern hemisphere perform synced oscillations.
Every detail matters in the Minute Repeater Resonance, like the hand-applied tremblage finishing on the balance and barrel bridges. It is a traditional technique that creates subtle depth through countless tiny indentations. Or the mirror-polished hammers and clutch spring. Their perfect surfaces invite the light to dance on them. Too poetic for a somewhat technical manufacture like us, you say? Well – we can’t escape it.
